Brasília
Guaíba Obras Públicas S/A was founded in 1934 in
the city of Rio de Janeiro - RJ with the name Brasília Obras
Públicas S/A.
It was associated with the French company Spie-Batignölles,
which is part of one of the largest European complexes—the
Empain-Schneider Group. Brasília was successful in bringing
to our country state-of-the art techniques such as the designing
and building of dams and pipelines, the building of bridges and
overpasses with slip-form molds, as well as earthwork and paving
of highways.
In November 1976, Brasília incorporated Guaíba
Obras Públicas S/A, a company created in November of 1963
in Porto Alegre – RS, which was equally capable of offering
high-standard technical services in the projects of earthwork,
paving, and sanitation.
In January 1977, the company changed its
name to Brasília
Guaíba Obras Públicas S/A and in August 1981 moved
its headquarters to Porto Alegre – RS where it has remained
until today. In June 1983, as a result of Spie-Batignölles
selling all of its shares, the company became 100% in the hands
of the Brazilian
partners.
Brasília Guaíba has systematically expanded
its building project activities into even other Mercosul countries
such as Uruguay
and Paraguay. The formation of consortiums to work alongside the
segments of privatization and concession of public services is
an example of its adaptation to the new market reality.
It began
an open capital holding company, BGPAR S/A, with the purpose of
consolidating its stock interest in highway concessionaire companies
and today includes investments in Metrovias, Convias, and Sulvias.
In order to increase its participation in the area of real estate,
the company created its subsidiary, Brasília Guaíba
Investimentos Imobiliários S/A.
The company is proud of its
more than 70 years of existence and of having built hundreds
of construction projects both in Brazil
and
abroad. |
